Thomas Friedman on Trump, brains
Reading Friedman’s book The World Is Flat more than a decade ago inspired my interest in the global community. I’ll have to read his newish book, Thank You for Being Late: An Optimist’s Guide to Thriving in the Age of Accelerations! He talks about it in this clip, and then comments on Trump…

Excerpt from the last part of the video:
If you engage with him too much, too often and too closely, he will actually suck your brains out. Because he is such an indecent person capable of such indiscreet behavior that you can totally get caught up covering every thing he does, and he also lies as he breathes. This is very unusual. His differentiation between truth and fiction constantly slides back and forth. My philosophy is watch his hands, not his lips. Always just watch what he’s doing, and focus on that, because if Democrats, if liberal Republicans who opposed him want to defeat him, they’d better not lose the signal in the noise. And the signal is this guy came out of nowhere, he won the Republican nomination, he won the presidency, and he won it by connecting at the gut level with a significant group of Americans. And if liberals, liberal Republicans and Democrats, don’t figure out their own way to connect at the gut level with those people, we’re gonna have eight years of this guy, not four. Oh my god!
