The l’Orangerie and another expensive restaurant
Monday morning we ventured to the Musée de l’Orangerie, which houses eight Water Lilies murals by Claude Monet.
By the way, I never heard of the word orangery before. Here is what Wikipedia has to say:
An orangery or orangerie was a building in the grounds of fashionable residences from the 17th to the 19th centuries and given a classicising architectural form. The orangery was similar to a greenhouse or conservatory. The name reflects the original use of the building as a place where citrus trees were often wintered in tubs under cover, surviving through harsh frosts though not expected to flower and fruit.
Then we walked outside to explore the Jardin des Tuileries and wander around on our way to eat at L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon.
